“I really enjoyed Higanjima (2009) it was a surprisingly entertaining little film. u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eThis however is a strange creature and I struggled to make head nor tails of it. Is this a sequel? Is it an alternate version? Whatu0026#39;s going on?u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eWith a new and pretty terrible cast, some really poor CGI (And lots of it) a medicore story and no actual ending Iu0026#39;m really really dissapointed.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eOn the plus side it has plenty of frantic action and lots of original gigantic monsters, okay they could have been animated better but still they certainly look the part and make the film memorable.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eOur lead protagonist is a mess, he overacts even more than youu0026#39;d expect from a movie of this type and looks like a pretencious moron who I failed to root for.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eOur antagonist? An already effeminate character has been taken to the next level and was neither intimidating nor entertaining, all that was left was annoyance.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eAs an experience, as a visual treat this succeeds but as an actual story it falls flat and falls hard.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eI went into this with high expectations, none of them were met and this has tarnished the Higanjima concept for me a little. Itu0026#39;s like they didnu0026#39;t bother to actually write a decent plot or get a competent cast and instead opted for making it look as big and flashy as possible.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eWatchable, but outstandingly inferior to the 2009 outing.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eThe Good:u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eGreat monstersu003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eThe Bad:u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eDodgy CGIu003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eLacks the charm of the first filmu003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eMiyabi and Akira are both terribleu003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eThe pee scene, seriously!?u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eHas no ending, at allu003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eThings I Learnt From This Movie:u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eHiganjima could make for a great animated series”
