Jasper, Texas: Directed by Jeffrey W. Byrd. With Roy T. Anderson, Demore Barnes, John Bayliss, James Bearden. In 1998, a stunning crime thrust Jasper, Texas into the spotlight. What happened on that summer evening – the death of black hitchhiker James Byrd, Jr. by three white men – became a flash-point for the state of race relations in America.

“What a horrible incident! I donu0026#39;t agree with my stateu0026#39;s (over)use of the death penalty, but somehow, Iu0026#39;m just fine with the fact that the perpetrators of this crime are going to get the death juice in a few years. The movie portrayal of the incident is sensitive and well-done. Louis Gossett, Jr. is awesome in this movie, which is an added bonus. I had an opportunity to be in the same room as R.C. Horn (long story), and heu0026#39;s almost a dead-ringer for Louis Gossett, Jr. Anyway, a great movie about a horrible incident.”
