Drifting Snow: Directed by Ryan Noth. With Sonja Smits, Jonas Bonnetta, Colin Mochrie, Rachel Bonnetta. Two strangers, Joanne (Sonja Smits) and Chris (Jonas Bonnetta) share a winter road trip through rural eastern Ontario. After losing her husband John (Colin Mochrie), Joanne faces the rituals of remote rural life on her own, while Chris is processing his failing eyesight and the loss of his mother and the new responsibility of taking over her old home in the country. As their journey together unfolds, their drifting memories reveal parallel experiences, helping each of them shift the focus of their destination.

“I donu0026#39;t know if it was just me but for the first hour of the movie, the sound mixing was so bad that the background sounds obscured the dialogue from the two main characters, necessitating me to adjust the graphics equaliser to filter out the background noise and boost the vocals so not a good start! Not that it matters much as the dialogue is pretty dreadful; just two people u0026quot;contemplating their navelsu0026quot; with the usual arty farty crew bigging this up as some meaningful, didactic cogitation on life and death and the misery of the human condition – Hmm not convinced!u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eIt was slow and dreary with no chemistry between any of the characters but if you have run out of Zopiclone, it will do for a soporific to summon sleep as I had to watch it in two halves on two separate nights (my movie watching OCD compels me to give every film a fair shake and watch it to the end) as it was that bad!u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eBlimey this one was hard going – I have watched it so you do not have to!”
