Claire in Motion: Directed by Annie J. Howell, Lisa Robinson. With Betsy Brandt, Chris Beetem, Zev Haworth, Anna Margaret Hollyman. Claire is sure of herself, her work and family, until – like a bad dream – her husband disappears, leaving a trail of puzzling secrets that shatter her certainty.

“First off, the reason so many people hate this movie isnu0026#39;t because it doesnu0026#39;t end with a neat little bow, whatever that means.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eItu0026#39;s because nobody in this movie acts like a real person.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eClaire, the main character leaves her middle school or late-elementary school aged son by himself 80% of the time after her husband, his father has disappeared. Did she ever once think that he might just run away? I mean, thatu0026#39;d be pretty emotionally distressing, right? But thank God the script dictates that he doesnu0026#39;t run away, so itu0026#39;s fine.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eThe girl who can laughingly be called the antagonist is a complete cliché. I canu0026#39;t tell you how many times Iu0026#39;ve seen the young mistress type in a movie or television show. They always have one distinguishing characteristic, but sheu0026#39;s got two – and both are stupid. One is that sheu0026#39;s an art student. Her u0026quot;artu0026quot; is literally light fixtures that look like they were bought at Pottery Barn, and piles of sticks. Her other distinguishing characteristic is that she thinks she knows whatu0026#39;s best for Claire and her husband – yet another motivational cliché typical of awful writing.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eI saw u0026quot;Ringsu0026quot; the other day, and I have to say, the only thing u0026quot;Claire in Motionu0026quot; has over u0026quot;Ringsu0026quot; is that its lead actress gives a slightly better performance. Slightly.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eWhen youu0026#39;re worse than u0026quot;Rings,u0026quot; youu0026#39;re one of the worst films ever made. I think thatu0026#39;s my new bar. Thereu0026#39;s u0026quot;Rings,u0026quot; and then thereu0026#39;s u0026quot;Claire in Motion,u0026quot; and then… Iu0026#39;m not sure how you can get worse than that. Maybe u0026quot;After Last Seasonu0026quot; is technically worse, but not by much.”
