Adolescents of Chymera: Directed by Brandy Brawner. With Josh Keaton, Danny Arroyo, Chloe Taylor, Carl Gilliard. Based on actual events about the harsh realities of teenagers living life in a group home (where over 100,000 American juveniles live each year). The story: Roy (Josh Keaton), a new kid and artist from the suburbs is tested by Daryl (Carl Gilliard), the group home leader and his military style rules, a forbidden romance with Laura (Chloe Taylor), his streetwise and reactionary roommate (Danny Arroyo), and his own troubled past as he tries to survive until ‘graduation day’. In the end, only his art can save his dreams of love, hope and freedom.

“Iu0026#39;m not an expert in anime, nor have I seen a lot of this genre, but I utterly admire the immense creativity of people like Hayao Miyazaki (u0026quot;Princess Mononokeu0026quot;, u0026quot;Spirited Awayu0026quot;). Satoshi Konu0026#39;s u0026quot;Paprikau0026quot; is a great example of anime at its finest. The movie is a sea of original ideas and a visual blast. Apparently, the plot is about the theft of a machine that allows scientists to enter and record peopleu0026#39;s dreams, and how a detective and a young therapist called Paprika join forces to get it back. But there is so much going on and so many smart innuendos (remember: this is Rated R anime, not u0026quot;Ratatouilleu0026quot; – even though I think the R rating is just too much in this case) that u0026quot;Paprikau0026quot; becomes one of the most original adult animations in recent memory – superior to Richard Linklateru0026#39;s u0026quot;Waking Lifeu0026quot; and even u0026quot;A Scanner Darklyu0026quot;, I dare to say. I wonu0026#39;t give away anything because I donu0026#39;t want to spoil a single scene, but Iu0026#39;d say that I see it as a movie about the power of movies over our life/dreams, and about the love people like me have for the Seventh Art. I donu0026#39;t know if that was Konu0026#39;s original idea and honestly I donu0026#39;t care – itu0026#39;s not every day that you find a movie that amuses and says something to you in such an unpretentious way. Whatever was Konu0026#39;s original idea, I think that he got what he wanted: a movie that both entertains and makes you think. Simply fascinating. 10/10.”
