Die Horror-Party: Directed by Fred Walton. With Jay Baker, Pat Barlow, Lloyd Berry, Deborah Foreman. Nine college students staying at a friend’s remote island mansion begin to fall victim to an unseen murderer over the April Fool’s Day weekend, but nothing is as it seems.

Whou0026#39;s the killer?u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eu0026quot;April Foolu0026#39;s Dayu0026quot; (1986) is a slasher/horror in the cabin-in-the-woods mold; itu0026#39;s just that the u0026#39;cabinu0026#39; in this case is a magnificent mansion. The presence of Amy Steel, who played Ginny in u0026quot;Friday the 13th Part IIu0026quot; (1981), brings to mind that series but, besides Amy, the female cast isnu0026#39;t as notable, although itu0026#39;s okay. You might remember Deborah Foreman from u0026quot;Valley Girlu0026quot; (1983) and u0026quot;Real Geniusu0026quot; (1985).u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eOn the other side of the gender spectrum, Ken Olandt is a Kevin Bacon lookalike while Clayton Rohner is reminiscent of Val Kilmer.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eRegrettably, the pacing is off and so not enough suspense is worked up. Any u0026quot;Friday the 13thu0026quot; flick is all-around more entertaining, not to mention u0026quot;Slumber Party Massacre IIu0026quot; (1987), which has similarities. But u0026quot;April Foolu0026#39;s Dayu0026quot; gets points for the outstanding location and something revolutionary that happens, which I canu0026#39;t give away.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eThe film runs 1 hour, 29 minutes, and was shot at St John estate, Victoria, British Columbia, with additional studio stuff done in Los Angeles.
