Tatsächlich… Liebe: Directed by Richard Curtis. With Bill Nighy, Gregor Fisher, Rory MacGregor, Colin Firth. Follows the lives of eight very different couples in dealing with their love lives in various loosely interrelated tales all set during a frantic month before Christmas in London, England.

“Richard Curtis is a terrific writer. Iu0026#39;m not convinced he can write anything properly dramatic or serious, but he has proved again and again that he has a wonderful knack for comedy, where his television work on the likes of u0026quot;Blackadderu0026quot; and u0026quot;The Vicar of Dibleyu0026quot; has occasionally outshone his fantastic work on films like u0026quot;Four Weddings and a Funeralu0026quot; and u0026quot;The Girl in the Cafeu0026quot;. Curtis is also a good fantasy writer. No, not fantasy in the Lord of the Rings sense, fantasy as done in Caprau0026#39;s u0026quot;Itu0026#39;s a Wonderful Lifeu0026quot;. u0026quot;Love Actuallyu0026quot; is a beautiful, touching, and genuinely affecting romantic fantasy in which the bits of humor work extremely well.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eu0026quot;Love Actuallyu0026quot; works so well as a narrative for several reasons, one of them being that itu0026#39;s fairly unique. The easiest way to describe it would be u0026#39;interlockingu0026#39;, but that would sadly put it in the company of trash like Paul Haggisu0026#39; abortion of a movie u0026quot;Crashu0026quot; and Inarrituu0026#39;s similarly unsuccessful u0026quot;Babelu0026quot;. u0026quot;Love Actuallyu0026quot; is best described as a series of vignettes about various varieties of love.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eThe star-studded cast donu0026#39;t exactly have to act their hearts out but they work perfectly together, Liam Neeson and Bill Nighy being the most affecting actors in the film. The film is not especially remarkable visually, but it is satisfyingly well-shot. Curtisu0026#39; script is nothing short of brilliant, at least until the final scenes. If u0026quot;Love Actuallyu0026quot; has flaws, they come in those final scenes. They are certainly contrived, but the rest of the movie does such a good job drawing you in that you barely notice it at the end. This is a remarkable film, one that is hard to forget.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003e9/10”
