Mistress – Die Geliebten von Hollywood: Directed by Barry Primus. With Robert Wuhl, Martin Landau, Vasek Simek, Thomas R. Voth. This self-effacing comedy about film industry blues stars Robert Wuhl and Martin Landau as a writer/producer duo who must deal with the increasingly fickle demands of their film’s financiers (Danny Aiello, Robert De Niro and Eli Wallach).

“u0026quot;Mistressu0026quot;, a misnomer, tells of a bunch of Hollywood hacks slogging through the process of networking, schmoozing, compromising, and sucking up required to launch a film project. A messy flick with little to offer considering the talent behind it, u0026quot;Mistressu0026quot; seems to be trying to make the point that making a film is often about everything but the film…careers, quid pro quos, personal agendas, etc. Unfortunately, u0026quot;Mistressu0026quot; is a poorly focused comedy/drama which doesnu0026#39;t work well in either genre. Most likely to be appreciated by people like the IMDB.com users who are not Hollywood insiders but have above average interest in films. (C)”
