Dow Rahehal Baraye yek Massaleh (Short 1975). 5m

“Perhaps I am the only person to have seen this film, but seek it out you must. Itu0026#39;s a Kiarostami slapstick (I think), which involves two schoolkids breaking each otheru0026#39;s stuff and getting in a fight because they didnu0026#39;t cooperate (the second solution is much less entertaining because they both learn to get along). Iu0026#39;m not sure if itu0026#39;s meant to be funny, though Kiarostami is, I guess, pretty amusing as arthouse directors go, but itu0026#39;s the ritualised aspect of Iranian society that comes out, unconsciously perhaps, in this film and itu0026#39;s what gives it a comic turn as one kid tears up the otheru0026#39;s exercise book and the other stares on impassively and breaks the otheru0026#39;s ruler in half. But itu0026#39;s all in the expressions, man! The deadpan voiceover is pretty cool, too. Overall, as Jonathan Rosenbaum might say, u0026#39;dude, this rocks!u0026#39;.”
