Lucky Boy (2017). 1h 50m

“Now, when I sat down here in 2023 to watch the 2017 Singaporean comedy u0026quot;Lucky Boyu0026quot;, it was without ever having actually heard about the movie. I happened to stumble upon it by random luck, and given my love of Asian cinema, then of course I opted to give the movie a fair chance.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eHowever, I have to admit that writers Boris Boo, Teck Lim and Danny Yeo collectively managed to piece together a script and storyline that utterly fell short of being entertaining and enjoyable. Perhaps I was just not the target audience for a coming-of-age movie such as this, but man this was quite an ordeal to suffer through. In fact, I managed to get just a bit more than halfway through u0026quot;Lucky Boyu0026quot; before I tossed the towel in the ring and gave up out of sheer and utter boredom.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eI wasnu0026#39;t familiar with the cast ensemble in u0026quot;Lucky Boyu0026quot;. But then again, I am not that well-traversed in the Singaporean cinema. However, I wasntu0026#39; really impressed with the performances on the screen. Sure, they werenu0026#39;t bad, but there wasnu0026#39;t any impressive or memorable performances.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eu0026quot;Lucky Boyu0026quot; wasnu0026#39;t my cup of tea, and I just found the storyline to be too mundane and uneventful. So I wasnu0026#39;t impressed with director Boris Boou0026#39;s 2017 movie. And I can honestly say that I am not planning to return to attempt watching the rest of the movie; I just simply donu0026#39;t care about the characters or the storyline. And this is definitely not a movie that I would recommend for fans of the Asian cinema to rush out and get to watch.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eMy rating of u0026quot;Lucky Boyu0026quot; lands on a generous three out of ten stars.”
