Synopsis
Storyline:
This black comedy opens with Louisa Foster donating a multimillion dollar check to the IRS. The tax department thinks she’s crazy and sends her to a psychiatrist. She then discusses her four marriages, in which all of her husbands became incredibly rich and died prematurely because of their drive to be rich.

User Reviews: Shirley MacLaine has a field day as a multi-widowed rich girl who
falls in love with Dean Martin, Gene Kelly, Paul Newman and
Robert Mitchum only to lose them. This 20th Century Fox romp is
hilariously over-the-top and in glorious technicolor. Shirley never
looked better in Edith Head’s sumptuous costumes. This
Italian-style multi-storied film is funny. As I recall, it didn’t do very
well at the box office. Shirley made a lot bad movies, but this
wasn’t one of them. I’m sure it’s been seen enough times to have
recouped its investment many times over. There’s a huge
musical number with Kelly and MacLaine dancing aboard a huge
naval ship recreated on a soundstage. There’s that hilarious
champagne glass bed with Mitchum and Shirley (looking so much
like Elizabeth Taylor in CLEOPATRA, you begin to wonder if it’s an
inside joke). And don’t forget Robert Cumming’s sly psychiatrist.
A terrific late-night movie romp.
