“I guess the movie deserves the u0026quot;tortureu0026quot; tag, but for all the wrong reasons. The German distributor made this sound enticing, because they added u0026quot;Martyrsu0026quot; on the cover. I donu0026#39;t know what they were thinking, but Martyrs is more than gore and effects. While I wouldnu0026#39;t say sheu0026#39;s a great actress, I thought the performance was at least slightly better than the one given by Sasha Grey in u0026quot;Smash Cutu0026quot;. I didnu0026#39;t watch the Girlfriend Experience, but I still wonder where all that hype came from.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eThe acting overall is not really good, but itu0026#39;s the story structure that really puts this movie to rest. And donu0026#39;t get me started on the anti-climactic ending. This makes u0026quot;I spit on your graveu0026quot; look like the Citizen Kane of that u0026quot;particular genreu0026quot;. And thatu0026#39;s not a compliment for either of those movies …”
