Van Diemen’s Land: Directed by Jonathan auf der Heide. With Oscar Redding, Arthur Angel, Paul Ashcroft, Thomas M. Wright. The true story of Alexander Pearce, Australia’s most notorious convict. In 1822, Pearce and seven fellow convicts escaped from Macquarie Harbour, a place of ultra banishment and punishment, only to find a world less forgiving.. the Australian wilderness. Abandon all hope you who enter.

“The actual events of what happened after Alexander Pearceu0026#39;s first escape from the prison colony in Tasmania, according to Pearce himself, are shown in this movie. u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eItu0026#39;s probably somewhat too slow-moving for some young viewers, but I was impressed by how realistic it is. The characters are believable. The direction is meticulous. The acting is excellent, in many situations an actoru0026#39;s expression reveals feelings of uncertainty, confusion, guilt, fear, horror or misery. The cinematography showing the Tasmanian wilderness is visually splendid.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eDo not expect a typical slasher/horror film, this movie is much more intelligently written and directed. The filmu0026#39;s intention is to tell a story, rather than to frighten.”
