Protest: Directed by Karel Reisz. With David Warner, Vanessa Redgrave, Robert Stephens, Irene Handl. After his wife leaves him for his former best friend, a failed London artist begins his descent into madness in trying to win her back.

“David Warner is, to my mind, one of the most gifted actors working in films today. He is able to take just about any role in just about any film and invest it with life and interest. In fact, he is the sole reason to ever want to see a great number of films. That said, u0026quot;Morganu0026quot; is a treat because itu0026#39;s one of the few films where Warner gets to play the lead. He doesnu0026#39;t get the girl and heu0026#39;s stark raving mad throughout, but heu0026#39;s still the lead.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eThis film is very much of its time, but itu0026#39;s still quite enjoyable. Morganu0026#39;s anarchist antics are always unpredictable and sweet in a psychotic kind of way. And considering the main characteru0026#39;s obsession with gorillas, itu0026#39;s interesting to see the film now in light of Warneru0026#39;s appearance in Tim Burtonu0026#39;s remake of u0026quot;Planet of the Apes.u0026quot; Must have felt like deja vu to him.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eRecommended for David Warner fans and people who like their comedies a little off-kilter.”
