Meeting your girlfriend’s family for the first time can be tough. Planning to propose at her family’s annual Christmas dinner – until you realize that they don’t even know she’s gay – is even harder. When Abby (Kristen Stewart) learns that Harper (Mackenzie Davis) has kept their relationship a secret from her family, she begins to question the girlfriend she thought she knew.
User Reviews: ‘Happiest Season’ has all the makings of a holiday classic with a twist that sets it apart from the average Christmas movie. Stewart shines in her awkwardly sexy role (watch simply for the outfits she dons throughout the flick). Her & Davis make an adorably realistic lesbian couple which is something greatly lacking in Hollywood. Credit to DuVall for handling heavy conversations about homophobia and family dynamics without taking too much away from the overall warmth and fluffiness needed in a holiday rom-com. A full star is reserved solely for Dan Levy & Aubrey Plaza simply for doing what they do always: shine in the few scenes they are featured in & make us fall in love with their characters onscreen & fall even deeper in love with them offscreen. No reason to pass on ‘Happiest Season’!
