Interesting screenplay by Jose Luis Garci and Horacio Valcarcel ; in fact, Garci often co-writes his scripts with his friend Horacio Valcarcel . The film tells the story of the friendship between two men who live their lives through movies. Starring two professionals Aldolfo Marsillach (Jose Luis Garci) and Jesus Puente ( Horacio Valcarcel) whose lives are fuller inside than outside of celluloid. A film with long shots and theatrical tone, supported by incisive dialogues and brilliant performances by Marsillach and Puente, who replaced Alfredo Landa and José Sacristán almost at the last moment , but both actors refused for having other professional commitments and because of professional rivalry between them. .As Marsillach is pretty good as a director who is having trouble connecting with his children as well as shooting a troubled film and Jesús Puente is nice as a screenwriter and playwright who is having trouble with his wife. Being well accompanied by a good support cast giving nice interpretations , such as María Casanova, José Bódalo, Encarna Paso , Víctor Valverde , Emma Suárez , Yolanda Rios, Juan Calot , Jesús Hermida, Rafael Hernández , among others .u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eNominated for an Oscar to Best Non-English Speaking Film, two years after Garci won the Academy award for ¨Volver A Empezar¨.
