“Having seen and admired Joachim Kunertu0026#39;s previous film, u0026quot;The Second Tracku0026quot;, I was keen to see this, his most famous work. Iu0026#39;m fine with films which take a non-linear approach, and must have seen hundreds like that. My problem with this one is its ridiculous length (164 minutes.) Iu0026#39;m sure that soldiers who went through the war found it interminable, but thatu0026#39;s no excuse for a film about WW2 to seem interminable. Ironically itu0026#39;s twice the length of u0026quot;The Second Tracku0026quot; and had half the impact. If you want a really good film about young German soldiers in that war see Bernhard Wickiu0026#39;s u0026quot;The Bridge.u0026quot;”
