Life off grid (2016)
45KLife off grid: Directed by Jonathan Taggart. Off-grid is not a state of mind. It is not about being out of touch, living in a remote place, or turning off your mobile phone. Off-grid simply means living without a connection to the electric and natural gas infrastructure. From 2011 to 2013 Jonathan Taggart (Director) and Phillip Vannini (Producer) spent two years travelling across Canada to find 200 off-gridders and visit them in their homes. They met off-gridders in every single province and territory and through their film they narrated our travels and chronicled in depth the experiences, challenges, inventions, aspirations, and ways of life of people who have chosen to radically re-invent daily life in a dramatically innovative but also quite traditional way.
“This film or documentary or whatever you want to call it services NO purpose whatsoever. If you want to watch a pointless film about people talking about how they live to catch warm-fuzzes about how superior you are because you embrace off grid life then this film is for you.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eYouu0026#39;ll be happy to know this film will drive your political views about how wonderful off grid life is without offering any real proof or examples or tips or anything on how to achieve that. Itu0026#39;s basically a mild propaganda flick on off grid life.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eThe only people who really gained anything with the flick are the two how probably got themselves a nice big fat assed grant to avoid having to go get real jobs for the two years it took to make it. Thatu0026#39;s about the only people who would enjoy this film.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eIt offer up nothing, no hints, or ideas, no solution, no suggestions on how to achieve that lifestyle so watching it to make yourself feel good about your choice to go off grid might be a wonderful motivator but it will get you nowhere.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eI looked forward to his film and wanted to learn something – all learned was how to waste time.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eCheersu0026#39;nDave Cason”
