Ambili (2019)
49KAmbili: Directed by Johnpaul George. With Soubin Shahir, Binu Pappu, Jaffer Idukki, Tanvi Ram. Guileless like a child and ever so full of life, Ambili is beloved by everyone in his village. The story traces Ambili’s outlook towards life and of challenges others surrounding him that face him on an everyday basis.
“Five-line review: Thereu0026#39;s nothing path-breaking about the script of Ambili other than the (clichéd) fact that it propagates love and feel-good vibes. The titular character of Ambili, played by a spectacular Soubin, has been written well and is one reason why the filmu0026#39;s climax (the destination) will emotionally move you in comparison with everything that precedes (the journey). The relationship arcs between the protagonists Ambili, Bobby (a wooden, low-on-charisma Naveen Nazim), and Teena (a bright Tanvi Ram) are unevenly sketched. The second half is very travelogue-like; this may not appeal to those trying to seek out a storyline amid all thatu0026#39;s going on. Overall, itu0026#39;s Soubinu0026#39;s performance that should keep you reasonably engaged.”
