“A deep and well built drama on a four-decade romantic triangle in which lies impact the future and the past is not forgotten and may return. If it were not enough, those characters resisted military dictatorship and two of them have been imprisioned and tortured. How to deal with tough discoveries and the visit of past shadows? In how many ways we can love and what do we do in the name of love? A generation conflict also crosses this dead end, helping with an outside view, but also bringing strangeness. The movie is careful and layered, very psychological. Most characters may be at least partially wrong, but also there are reasons for all actions. Besides that, love and nudity among the elderly is rarely shown on screen, and here they are beautifully portrayed. In the present great wave of Pernambuco (state in Northeatern Brazil) cinema, director Tuca Siqueira had a great achievement in her very first feature-length film. The same may be said about the leading actors, a great casting out of the usual stars.”
