43KThe Dark and the Wicked: Directed by Bryan Bertino. With Marin Ireland, Michael Abbott Jr., Julie Oliver-Touchstone, Lynn Andrews. On a secluded farm in a nondescript rural town, a man is slowly dying. His family gathers to mourn, and soon a darkness grows, marked by waking nightmares and a growing sense that something evil is taking over the family.
“The film makers got so much right about what makes a good horror movie that it is a shame they forgot a coherent story. The acting is top notch, the atmosphere perfect, itu0026#39;s genuinely a spooky, creepy, could give you nightmares type film. On the other hand the movie is just too slow, and in a way, pointless. Itu0026#39;s as if random scenes have been edited together, each may be suspenseful, or scary, or throw more questions into the mix, but in the end they donu0026#39;t add up to any real plot. Even worse this film suffers from the usual u0026quot;people acting stupid in a horror filmu0026quot;, behaving the exact opposite way you would expect any sane human being to act in real life given the situations. I really wanted to like this, at times it was very good and then it all just falls apart. There are scenes and dialogue that are left totally unexplained and by the time it abruptly ends I just thought u0026quot;what was that all about ?u0026quot;. Great atmosphere, and a few chills do not add up to a complete movie.”
