“I saw the trailer of this, but was expecting another campy u0026quot;Independence Dayu0026quot; trying to be too funny, u0026quot;War of the Worldsu0026quot; that tried to be too serious or u0026quot;District 9u0026quot; that was FX for FX sake. I probably would have not gone, but my date said her daughter saw it and loved it.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eWow, was I surprised! The characters make the movie. Cruiseu0026#39;s less-than-perfect, frustrated but determined u0026quot;Cageu0026quot; quickly got me rooting for him. Emily Bluntu0026#39;s serious u0026quot;Ritau0026quot; was a great mirror image protagonist.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eThe special effects were so clean and well integrated that they didnu0026#39;t overpower the story or become center stage. Instead, they added to bringing in me into making the unreal premise more real.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eIn the end, this is probably the coolest sci-fi love story I have ever seen. It is nice to see that Hollywood can still produce something other than the formulaic trash that usually keeps me away from the theaters. Warner Brothers, thanks for putting $178 million on the table to make this!”
